The wife of Vance Boelter, the man wanted in connection with the shootings that targeted two state legislators and their spouses at their Twin Cities homes Saturday, was detained along with three relatives by law enforcement more than 100 miles from her home late that morning,

Vance Boelter is accused of shooting Democratic state Rep. Melissa Hortman and state Sen. John Hoffman in “politically motivated” attacks.

Minnesota State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were shot a total of 17 times when a gunman opened fire at their home early Saturday.

Jail records indicate a federal charge against Boelter, which could keep him in custody, even if he could post bail.
