Queen Camilla has been left heartbroken after her ‘much-loved companion’, Beth the rescue dog, died. The Jack Russell terrier was adopted by the queen from the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London in 2011.

Prince Harry wrote about Queen Camilla's passion for protecting rescue animals in his memoir Spare, published in 2023. In his memoir, the Duke of Sussex reflected on the first time he introduced his then-girlfriend and future wife, Meghan Markle, to his father Charles and Camilla.

Beth has previously been seen accompanying the Queen at a range of engagements - while the Battersea Dogs And Cats Home said the Jack Russell was "very special indeed".
