ATLANTA — A wide stretch of southwest Atlanta and south Fulton County is in a boil water advisory Monday morning. The City of Atlanta said it followed a failure at the Adamsville Pumping Station. 11Alive will be providing updates on the situation. Here's a rundown of basic information so far:

Boil water advisories were issued in Georgia Sunday after Hurricane Helene left behind power outages and destruction in its wake. Residents whose water is provided by the cities of Kingsland, St. Mary and Woodbine are not under a boil water advisory.

A boil water advisory is in place for parts of Atlanta and surrounding cities due to a pump failure at Adamsville Station.

GEORGIA – The Georgia Department of Public Health has issued a boil water advisory for Camden and Glynn counties. When water systems lose pressure during a power outage, there’s a risk of contamination. Once power is restored, the water utility company must test the water before it’s safe to use again.

UPDATE (9/18): The boil advisory has been lifted, according to the Jones County Water Department. UPDATE (9/16): Jones County Water Superintendent Brandon Stark says the boil water advisory was issued after an “unforeseen challenge” while crews were updating and expanding the water system caused water to drop below the required pressure.

The city of South Fulton is providing free bottled water to residents affected by the boil advisory, after the impact of Hurricane Helene.

The Department of Watershed Management has issued a boil water advisory for residents and businesses across multiple cities due to a failure at the Adamsville Pumping Station.
