West Ham United have reached an agreement to sign Brian Brobbey from Ajax in what will go down as one of the surprise deals of the January transfer window.

The Hammers are in talks with Ajax over a loan deal for the Holland international. However, Ajax are insisting West Ham agree to a permanent option being included in the arrangement. The delays have opened the door to Tottenham making their interest known, reports transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Brian Brobbey has shown flashes of talent but remains unproven at the top level. His scoring record at Ajax has been solid in bursts, but his stint at RB Leipzig in 2021 was far from impressive. Failing to score in 14 Bundesliga matches highlighted the inconsistency that continues to plague his career.

One of those alternatives in Brobbey is now being really coveted by West Ham, with De Telegraaf reporter Mike Verweij writing that the east Londoners have made a proposal to sign him on loan with an obligation to buy outright after contacting both the player and Ajax.

As we prepare for tomorrow's Udinese match, the rumor mill has added another center-forward into the mix, Ajax forward Brian Brobbey. However, with a €30M price tag, the negotiations may be exceedingly difficult.
