Brock Purdy is going into his fourth year with the 49ers after overcoming the odds to win the starting job over Jimmy Garoppolo, who he could not help but swipe at, amid his ongoing contract situation

Brock Purdy knew it was just a matter of time before he took over the starting job. During an appearance on the “Built 4 More” podcast Wednesday, Purdy reflected on his journey of being “overlooked” throughout his career and explained that things changed when Jimmy Garoppolo took over for Trey Lance during the 2022 season.

Purdy was absolutely correct. Garoppolo suffered a Lisfranc foot injury and Purdy took over the reigns to the offense. Purdy and the 49ers went a perfect 5-0 in the regular season and Purdy led San Francisco to the NFC Championship Game.
