Critics of the Biden-era CBP One app said migrants were abusing the asylum-request system to legally enter the United States, then disappear.

CBP Home is a phone app previously used for people seeking asylum in the U.S. But, it has since been revived with a different purpose.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection app, called CBP Home, will offer an option for someone to signal their "intent to depart," the agency said.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has relaunched the "CBP One" app, which allowed migrants to request asylum, to assist them with self-deportation, FNC's Bill Melugin reports. The Trump administration billed the revamped app as a win-win. Self-deportation, DHS argued, is the “safest” option for illegal migrants that forgoes them being arrested at large in the community and saves vital time and resources for federal immigration authorities.

CBP Home replaces an earlier app that allowed migrants to sign up for asylum interviews at the US-Mexico border.
