The inauguration of the Chennai unit was a high-profile event, attended by the Union Minister of Communications and Minister of Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins and Cisco India President Daisy Chittilapilly.

The company is planning to produce printed circuit board assembly components with several layers and products requiring, at times, thousands of individual components, and industrial-grade products in subsequent phases.

Networking giant Cisco inaugurated its first manufacturing facility in India on Friday (September 27, 2024), located in Sriperumbudur near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, that will produce routing and switching products.

Partnering with Flex, Cisco's Chennai facility will initially focus on manufacturing the Network Convergence System (NCS) 540 Series routers, with plans to scale production in the coming years.

The plant will involve multi-year investment, has been set up in partnership with the Flex Group and will focus on routers to begin with.
