MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — A Palestinian student arrested as he was about to finalize his U.S. citizenship accused Columbia University on Thursday of eroding democracy with its handling of campus protests against the Israel-Hamas war.

Dozens of people multiple were taken into custody by the New York Police Department at Columbia University after a pro-Palestinian protest in an area of the main library on campus Wednesday.

Masked demonstrators who took over part of a central library demand divestment in the wake of the Israel-Gaza war; the university called the takeover “outrageous.”
