Digital Federal Credit Union (DCU) and First Tech Federal Credit Union (First Tech) announce their intent to combine through a merger of equals for the benefit of members, employees, and communities.

Digital Federal Credit Union and First Tech Federal Credit Union, among the largest in the country, originated from technology companies.

First Tech recently announced plans to close its only Portland branch, in the Lloyd District, citing a drop in walk-in customers and safety concerns. It’s expected to close on Nov. 15. In addition to Oregon, First Tech has branches in California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho and Massachusetts, according to its website.
