Hartford police are investigating after they say three people were shot, two fatally, in the area of New Britain and Hillside avenues on Tuesday afternoon.

Police are searching for the person or people responsible for a drive-by shooting in Hartford that left a woman and her baby dead on Tuesday afternoon. The police department said a triple shooting broke out in broad daylight on New Britain Avenue near the corners of Hillside Avenue and Zion Street just before 3 p.

The victims have been identified as 20-year-old Jessiah Mercado and her four-month-old baby Messiah Diaz. They were shot on Tuesday at 2:47 p.m. in Mercado’s car when someone pulled up next to them and opened fire, according to the Hartford Police Department.
