With heavy rains causing severe flooding in Bihar, a video shows people fleeing a bridge as the Kosi river swells.

Patna: The flood situation in Bihar remained grim on Tuesday, affecting over 10 lakh people in the state. Meanwhile, the water level of the Gandak river, which was in spate on Monday, receded. Bihar has been reeling under severe floods after flood-hit Nepal released 10.

Patna: The Bihar government has declared an alert for floods along swollen Kosi, Gandak and Ganga rivers in northern and central parts of the state following the release of water from Valmikinagar and Birpur barrages,

A total of 5.7 cusecs of water was released from Birpur Barrage on Kosi River till noon, the highest in the recent past.

An alert has already been sounded in several districts of Bihar as the IMD predicted heavy rain and warned of low to moderate flash flood risk in parts of the state.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Dhule Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Akola, Amravati and Buldhana districts and an orange alert for the adjoining Raigad and Palghar districts due to the forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Flash flood alert has prompted Bihar disaster management department to remain vigilant and implement preventive measures.
