Western Michigan defeated Boston University, 6-2, in the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Hockey National Championship on Saturday night in St. Louis, marking the hockey team’s first-ever national title.

Western Michigan hockey has never been on the NCAA national championship stage –– it’s the program’s first-ever Frozen Four in a season full of firsts. The Broncos’ hockey program hasn’t won a national title ever and are looking for their first athletic national championship since 1965, when the men’s cross country team won it all.

For the first time in the history of Western Michigan University, they are national champions in hockey, winning by a score of 6-2 over Boston University for the NCAA championship. The Broncos were in control for most of the game,
