The first start of Philip Rivers' return to the NFL at 44 years old is over. It was an exciting one. The Indianapolis Colts fell to the Seattle Seahawks, 18-16. The back-and-forth affair ended on an interception from Rivers,
Rivers completed 18 of his 27 passes for 120 yards and led a drive that put the Colts ahead with less than a minute left.
Rivers returned to the game at age 44 and looked... well, not good, but also much better than he had any right.
Rivers, 44, says he didn't return to motivate, but there is a lesson in his start Sunday for the kids he coaches in Alabama.
“We just changed our mindset on how to play the ball," Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon told Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune. "Not how tight [our coverage is] or how we play man coverage, just how we play the ball.”
The Bills pulled off one of the most improbable comeback wins of the season, while Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson both bounced back.
