Club America and the Portland Timbers will face off in the 2025 Leagues Cup match on Wednesday. The Liga MX side has been a goal-scoring force and is coming off of a 3-3 draw against Minnesota United on the second matchday.

The Timbers forward’s absence was unexcused, the club said. A report claims he’s pushing for a transfer to Brazilian club Fluminense.

The Leagues Cup, first introduced in 2019, pits the best clubs from Major League Soccer against those from Mexico’s top professional league, Liga MX. It has led to some exciting action, as it gives each league the chance to earn bragging rights, along with the opportunity for clubs to take home a trophy.
