Florida home burns down after Tesla catches fire while sitting in Hurricane Helene floodwaters
The incident happened last week at a home in Sarasota. The Hodges family said their Tesla Model X Plaid burst into flames after sitting in 6 to 8 inches of water inside the home’s garage. The flooding happened as Hurricane Helene moved through the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Hurricane Helene brought more than water and wind damage to one Florida home. A Sarasota family shared a Nest video showing the moment their Tesla burst into flames, which caused their home to burn down. Morgan Hodges said the Tesla Model X Plaid was parked in the garage during the storm on Friday.

A Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR) team has returned from helping those affected by Hurricane Helene in Sarasota County.
The Herald-Tribune documented damage to Siesta Key, Lido Key, Longboat Key and Anna Maria Island from the air Friday.
Category 4 Helene made landfall just east of the mouth of the Aucilla River, about 10 miles west-southwest of Perry, Florida.
