Greece has declared a state of emergency on Santorini after a series of earthquakes shook the popular tourist island this week and prompted more than 10,000 residents and workers to evacuate.

A state of emergency has been declared on Santorini as hundreds of undersea earthquakes continue shaking the Greek island. The announcement was made by the ministry of civil protection, according to Associated Press.

"The Greek Ministry advises people to avoid the ports of Amoudi, Armeni, Korfos and Old Port (Paleos Limenas) in the area of Fira and to choose safe routes when travelling, particularly in areas where the landslide risk is high.
