Bay Area Shorelines was placed under an updated tsunami advisory by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 9:21 a.m. The advisory is in effect until 10:51 a.m.

The tsunami advisory for Oregon and Washington's coastlines has expired following a massive 8.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the eastern coast of Russia.

An NOAA map (below) shows the red zone stretch about 130 miles from its southernmost point at Cape Mendocino near Fortuna, California, to near Bandon, Oregon. The area reached as far as 15 miles inland at its deepest point at Cape Mendocino, which is located about 200 miles north of San Francisco.
