More funds are flowing in for the development of the Joe Louis Greenway, including a $10.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration.

Ketai, on Tuesday, recalled the Joe Louis Arena parking deck being a key sticking point in the deal that was struck in October 2014.

Louis' legacy is celebrated in Detroit to this day. Joe Louis Arena, which sat along the Detroit River in Detroit from 1979 to 2020 as the home of the Red Wings, was named in his honor.
