It's official. If you live in the United States, Google Maps now shows "Gulf of America" instead of "Gulf of Mexico."

The body of water formerly known in the United States as the Gulf of Mexico is now listed for US-based users of Google Maps as the Gulf of America.

Apple is in the process of renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, and changes are already being made to the Apple Maps app.
