Texas returns to the diamond for the series finale against Santa Clara (7-6) on Sunday at 1 p.m. Andre Duplantier II closed out the ninth for the Longhorns, who picked up win No. 12 in a row and secured a series win.

The Longhorns (12-1) have ridden strong pitching performances to victories in the first two games of the series. Their starting pitchers have allowed just one earned run, while Max Grubbs and Ruger Riojas have each delivered long, efficient outings out of the bullpen.

No. 12 Texas ran its record to 13-1 with a sweep of Santa Clara, capped by a 6-1 win Sunday at UFCU-Disch Falk Field. The Longhorns beat the Broncos 4-2 in the series opener Friday and followed that with an 8-3 victory Saturday.

The victory completed the Longhorns’ second home series sweep and propelled Texas to its best start of the season since 2005 as the team sits at 13-1.
