A widespread Verizon outage is causing iPhones and Android devices to enter SOS mode, preventing them from making mobile calls unless they use WiFi calling.

If you're seeing SOS mode on your phone today, you're not alone. Verizon, the largest wireless carrier in America, is experiencing a massive outage that's affecting users across the US. Around 10 a.m. ET, users reported that they could not call, text, or use cellular data. Many added that their phones were in SOS mode.

Verizon customers reported their mobile phone service was down in cities across the U.S., giving them only SOS mode.

Verizon users across the country reported service outages Monday morning after the network experienced “an issue,” a company spokesperson told The Post. Downdetector.com – which provides real-time updates on Internet and phone services – experienced a spike in reports of Verizon outages around 10 a.
