A 'dynamic' weather system has sparked a 'historic' tornado outbreak across the US with 70 twisters predicted to make landfall by the end of the weekend and has already left two people dead

An "outbreak" of tornadoes and severe thunderstorms is expected through Saturday night in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and other southern states.

"The hazards associated with these thunderstorms are frequent lightning, severe thunderstorm wind gusts, hail, and several tornadoes," National Weather Service warns
