The flood crisis in Bihar has escalated into a major health concern. Stagnant water from breached rivers can become a breeding ground for waterborne and vector-borne diseases.

Hundreds of people are on the roads, carrying the few belongings they have been able to salvage after floodwaters inundated their villages in the Supaul district of Bihar. The flood-affected residents are moving towards safer locations amid a severe shortage of basic essentials including food.
