The Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed a deputy’s line-of-duty death Saturday afternoon.Deputy Elijah Ming, 34, was shot and killed on July 26, 2025, while responding to a domestic incident.

The office announced a candlelight vigil will take place on July 30 at 8:30 p.m. It will be held to honor the sacrifice made by Deputy Elijah Ming. It will be in front of the Wyandotte County Courthouse at 710 N 7th Street.

Across both state lines, law enforcement agencies and public officials are paying tribute to fallen Wyandotte County Sheriff's Deputy Elijah Ming, who was shot and killed in Kansas City, Kansas, while responding to a call on Saturday.
