The Halifax stop in the five-game series between Canada and the U.S. – the powerhouses of international women’s hockey – featured stellar goaltending, a late goal from a local hero and a thrilling overtime and shootout before a near sold-out Scotiabank Centre crowd mostly clad in red.

The United States defeated Canada 2-1 in a shootout in the fourth game of their women’s hockey Rivalry Series in Halifax. Kelly Pannek had the shootout winner for the Americans, who tied the series at two games a piece.

Gwyneth Philips was a standout for the United States in levelling the women's hockey Rivalry Series against Canada. The 25-year-old stopped 31 of 32 shots in regulation and wasn't beaten in a shootout in a 2-1 win for the U.
