A low-pressure system over the western Caribbean Sea could develop into a tropical depression in the Gulf of Mexico in several days, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

Tropical Depression 12 has formed in the eastern Atlantic Ocean, moving slowly to the northwest as of the 5 p.m. Advisory issued by the National Hurricane Center.

The storm follows Helene and Isaac in a busy few days. It is not currently a threat to land.
