Once former Bears coach Matt Eberflus became Cowboys coach it seemed inevitable some Chicago assistants would follow their old boss to the Big D and two have.

Brian Schottenheimer has made a high-profile addition to his Cowboys staff, bringing in ex-Bears head coach Matt Eberflus to be the team's new DC.

The Cowboys hired former Chicago Bears coach Matt Eberflus as defensive coordinator Tuesday for his second stint on the Dallas staff.

The Colts reached the playoffs twice and were a top-10 scoring defense three times in Eberflus’ four seasons as defensive coordinator. Chicago went 14-32 under Eberflus and never had better than the league’s 18th-best scoring defense.

Dallas has also hired Nick Sorenson to serve as special teams coordinator under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

Matt Eberflus has yet to prove he can haul a team across the finish line. And it will be the same story in Dallas.

Matt Eberflus was identified as the top candidate for the Cowboys' defensive coordinator position before the team officially hired Brian Schottenheimer as their head coach and Eberflus is now part of the organization as well.

Shortly after a full press conference with the new Cowboys head coach, the organization unveiled their next big plan: a new defensive coordinator. Specifically, the addition of Matt Eberflus, the former Chicago Bears head coach.

The former Cowboys fullback also discussed a ‘very challenging’ aspect Schottenheimer will face as a first-time head coach.
