Oklahoma became a state in 1907 and adopted its first state flag in 1911. The flag is red with a white star and the number 46 in it, as Oklahoma was the 46th state added to the union.

Oklahoma historians say 14 flags represent the nations of people settling the state, beginning with the Royal Standard of Spain and including flags from Great Britain, France, Mexico and Texas.
