Thousands of customers who bought the glimmering "N95" face mask from Razer during the Covid-19 pandemic are finally getting a refund for the dodgy Zephyr mask.

The FTC sued Razer in April 2024, and the gaming-hardware company agreed to a settlement, including a $100,000 fine and $1,071,254.33 toward a fund for consumer relief. The payments are being distributed to mask buyers imminently, the FTC announced yesterday.

In May 2024, the FTC announced that a settlement was reached with Razer for more than $1 million. The fine occurred because Razer claimed its face mask met N95 requirements, even though it was never submitted for certification to test whether it removed 95% of airborne particles, per the FTC.

The settlement from Razer is now complete, and the Zephyr mask's refunds are now in the process of being sent to their respective owners after their purchase of this "fake" smart mask from the renowned multinational tech company.

The Federal Trade Commission is sending out checks to fully reimburse everyone who bought Razer Zephyr air purifier masks, which were falsely labeled during the COVID-19 pandemic as having N95-equivalent protection.

After announcing a settlement last year, the FTC is now sending refund checks to 6,700+ consumers who bought Razer's air-filtering mask, which was flagged for deceptive marketing.

Under the terms of the agreement, the FTC said it would send checks and PayPal payments containing full refunds to 6,764 consumers who purchased the mask. According to the agency, consumers who bought a Zephyr will have 90 days to cash their check once received or 30 days to accept their PayPal payment.
