Down south, in spots such as Santa Ana, Irvine and Fontana and the majority of the Inland Empire, expect winds of up to 60 miles per hour. Orange County can expect temperatures to remain level in the mid to high 70s, with the Inland Empire seeing a decrease to the mid to high 60s.

The state is still recovering from one of the worst wildfire seasons on record with more than 1 million acres burned so far. High winds can cause power companies to shut off power to some areas to mitigate the risks of power lines sparking fires.

Strong winds are expected Wednesday in Northern California as the day runs slightly warmer than seasonable. Meteorologist Tamara Berg said gusts surpassing 40 mph are possible, especially along the Delta and the west side of the Sacramento Valley.
