Cedric Irving Jr., 27, was reportedly arrested early Friday as the suspected shooter of Laney College athletic director and Last Chance U figure John Beam, who remains in critical condition.

John Beam, a football coach featured on Netflix's "Last Chance U" and the Laney College athletic director, has died, one day after being shot on the Oakland, California, campus, police announced.

Beam was the head football coach of the Laney College Eagles when the team appeared on Season 5 of Netflix’s “Last Chance U.”
