President Donald Trump has recognized nearly 100 Purple Heart recipients at the White House. On Thursday, he honored three service members who gave him their medals after an attempt on his life at a Pennsylvania rally.

Donald Trump couldn’t resist praising himself at a Purple Heart Day ceremony, reminding the crowd that the minor injuries he suffered during last year’s assassination attempt weren’t “easy” for him either.

National Purple Heart Day will be celebrated on the seventh day of August after President Donald Trump signed a proclamation making it so on Thursday. The president was joined by many Purple Heart recipients and their families during a signing ceremony honoring the nation's military personnel at the White House.
