Lawyers in the second murder trial of Karen Read are set to give their closing arguments after weeks of testimony
(WJAR) — Closing arguments in the Karen Read murder trial are expected to start Friday. The Bristol County woman is accused of killing her Boston police officer boyfriend John O’Keefe by running her SUV back on him. Read’s defense rested their case on Wednesday. They claimed someone else was responsible for the death.
Jurors set to decide what happened to Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe before his body was found in a snowbank outside the Canton, Massachusetts home of another cop during a blizzard. Was he struck by Read's car or was she a patsy framed by police?
Without the jury in the room, prosecutors and Read’s defense will convene for a charge conference starting at 10 a.m. — the final time lawyers will be able to argue procedural issues before delivering their closing arguments. At the conference, lawyers for both sides will present their proposed jury instructions to Judge Beverly Cannone.
