The Michigan State women's basketball team lost to North Carolina State 83-49 in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Wolfpack made a program-record 15 3-pointers, shooting 50% from beyond the arc. Michigan State finished the season with a 22-10 record, earning their first NCAA tournament win in six years before the loss.

On the banks of the Red Cedar, athletics are thriving. Men’s and women’s basketball, hockey and gymnastics all qualified to their respective NCAA tournaments — making Michigan State University the only school in the country with all four programs represented.

For the second time in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, Michigan State basketball took a major punch in the first half from a feisty opponent but was able to pull away in the second half. In the Round of 32, the Spartans beat New Mexico 71 to 63 after going into halftime down to the Lobos.

When the action hasn't been taking place on the floor during March Madness there's only been one other main topic of conversation at the NCAA Tournament, and it's all about NIL and how the transfer portal is drastically changing the sport.

Despite the fact that two more weeks remain before a March Madness champion is crowned, the NCAA transfer portal opened on Monday.
