Thomas Mascia, a West Hempstead resident and former New York state trooper, is expected to plead guilty when he returns to court on May 7.

Thomas Mascia, 27, of West Hempstead, was charged on Jan. 27 with filing a false report, official misconduct and tampering with evidence, a felony.

His parents, Dorothy and Thomas, were also each charged with criminal possession of a firearm as the .22- caliber gun was discovered in their West Hempstead bedroom, according to prosecutors.
