BMW has pledged to continue investing in combustion engine and hybrid technology as it warned of a “rollercoaster ride” in the US transition to electric vehicles following the return of Donald Trump as president.

That makes it much easier for BMW to adjust its mix of EVs to ICE products, giving it flexibility that rivals don't have. Mercedes has now copied that approach, announcing that the forthcoming CLA EV will also be available as a hybrid.

BMW ( OTCPK:BMWKY) will continue investing in petrol and hybrid cars, as the electric vehicle transition will be a "rollercoaster ride," the automaker's board member Jochen Goller - who oversees customer, brands, and sales - told the Financial Times.
