Tens of billions in aid for victims of Hurricane Helene should start flowing later this month, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins pledged Wednesday, but delays are already making it hard this year for some farmers to plant crops.

State lawmakers are weighing a bill that could make it easier to replace homes and businesses lost in the floodwaters as western North Carolina rebuilds from Hurricane Helene.

"Closure signs and barriers are there for a reason – to protect you from harm and allow crews to work efficiently and safely."

Most of the Blue Ridge Parkway is still closed and many residents feel left without an explanation. A spokesperson for the parkway says the recent winter storms are to blame, as they have caused more damage than Hurricane Helene to some of the Virginia areas of the parkway.
