Amazon.com Inc.’s driverless-car business will be allowed to commercially deploy as many as 2,500 vehicles annually in the US over the next two years, clearing the way for more robotaxis in a market dominated by Alphabet Inc.

The exemption allows Zoox to operate up to 2,500 vehicles annually for two years, subject to "enhanced, adaptable" oversight conditions.

Zoox's robotaxis do not have a steering wheel and are bi-directional. Business Insider's Lloyd Lee described the experience as like a theme park ride.
