Heavily armed and dressed in tactical armor with a silicone mask hiding his face and a police-style badge, Vance Boelter made a convincing police officer – so much so that a real police officer mistook him for a fellow cop.

Vance Boelter has been charged in the shootings of two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses, and the FBI says that he visited the homes of multiple other elected officials the night he killed Minnesota Rep.

New details about Vance Boelter, accused of fatally shooting a state lawmaker and her husband, were revealed in court documents.

Authorities arrested and charged Vance Boelter on Sunday night after he allegedly shot and killed House Democratic leader Melissa Hortman and her husband in their Brooklyn Park home and shot and seriously injured state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife in their home in Champlin.

A spokesperson for Sen. Tammy Baldwin confirmed that the senator was included on the "list of names" authorities say belonged to the man accused of fatally shooting a Minnesota state representative and her husband and wounding a state senator and his wife.

Vance Boelter's wife was involved in a traffic stop on the day of the Minnesota shooting but was not taken into custody.

She remembers friendlier encounters with Boelter and his wife before Sunday night arrest for killing of former House Speaker Melissa Hortman.
