Police have begun criminal investigations into the “significant disorder" that took place across Scotland on Bonfire Night.

Video shows youths attacking police with bricks and fireworks in Bonfire Night disorder. Police Scotland said ‘officers in Edinburgh responded to various incidents of youth disorder in Niddrie, Sighthill and Moredun’. Lothian Buses withdrew several services across the city due to the antisocial behaviour.

Police officers clashed with large groups throwing fireworks, bottles and bricks and emergency service vehicles and cars. Police Scotland said the force responded to 18 incidents on Tuesday evening as part of Operation Moonbeam. Police said they had responded to “youth disorder” in the Niddrie, Sighthill and Moredun areas of Edinburgh.

Officers have been given powers to help prevent disorder during a Bonfire Night which has seen fireworks thrown at police.
