Gayle King has responded to backlash over her Blue Origin flight, which saw an all-female crew take an eight-minute trip into space.

The crew, including singer Katy Perry, film producer Kerianne Flynn, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, was assembled by journalist and philanthropist Lauren Sánchez, fiancée of Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos.

CBS host Gayle King defended her 10-minute space flight aboard the Blue Origin rocket on Monday, telling critics there was "nothing frivolous" about it.
