During a legal battle regarding a Salvadoran national removed from U.S., the Justice Department asserted that federal courts may not dictate to the executive branch how to handle foreign relations.

Abrego Garcia, who reportedly fled political persecution from El Salvador and was deported last month by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement following an "administrative error," remains in the CECOT prison despite court orders requesting the U.S. government "facilitate" bringing him back to the United States.

The Supreme Court ruled Thursday the U.S. must facilitate the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was mistakenly deported to El Salvador and imprisoned.
