Lemon, a former CNN anchor, has argued he was exercising his First Amendment rights as a journalist during the protest at a church in St. Paul, Minn.
Lemon’s arrest over a Minnesota protest has quickly become a flashpoint over press rights in the U.S.
"We didn't go into the church to do anything illegal. We didn't intend to do anything illegal, nor did we do anything illegal. That's why you don't hear any allegations of violence," said civil rights attorney and ordained minister Nekima Levy-Armstrong.
Anti-ICE demonstrations are expected across the country today, including a student walkout in New York City and a protest in Minneapolis following the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
