The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is urging pet owners not to give their dogs and cats certain food products.

Samples the FDA took from five types pet foods made by Arrow Reliance, headquartered in Tukwila, tested positive for Salmonella and a sixth FDA sample tested positive for Salmonella and L isteria monocytogenes (L. mono).

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a recall on several pet food brands sold by Darwin’s Natural Selections and Answers Pet Food after testing found evidence of listeria and salmonella contamination. Although most pets don’t become ill from this contamination, the germs can potentially spread to humans from pet stool and saliva.

While one brand has withdrawn the affected products, a second, Darwin's Natural Pet Products, has not, according to the FDA.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration warns customers to not feed their pets certain lots of these pet food brands as they contained salmonella and listeria.

Answers Pet Food and Darwin’s Natural Pet Products, were found to have produced pet food that was contaminated with the bacteria salmonella and listeria, which can cause illness in pets that can then infect their owners.

Pet owners are advised to throw away the at-risk products safely, so pets and children can't access and ingest them

The U.S. FDA issued warnings for ANSWERS Pet Food and Darwin's Natural Pet Products as they contain Salmonella and Listeria. Biggest risk is passing it on to humans.
