Title-chasing Arsenal was let down by its depth as the Gunners were fortunate to come away from a point after throwing away an early lead to draw 1-1 at Brighton on Saturday.

Arsenal have drawn away at Brighton, therefore missing the chance to close the gap at the top of the Premier League table to three points. Ethan Nwaneri marked his second Premier League start with a goal after 16 minutes, but Joao Pedro’s rather controversial second half penalty means the Gunners had to settle for a share of the points.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said he had never seen anything like the controversial penalty that earned Brighton a 1-1 draw on Saturday, and dealt another seismic blow to the Gunners' Premier League title challenge. Runaway leader Liverpool held a five point advantage over second-placed Arsenal, and had two games in hand as of Saturday.
