With her win at UFC 322, Valentina Shevchenko matched Amanda Nunes’ record of the most title fight wins of any female fighter at 11. Some argued ahead of November 15 that another win for Shevchenko could also see her dethrone Nunes as the greatest female fighter that we’ve ever seen inside the Octagon.
Amanda Nunes already had some big plans for her comeback, but now they include dropping down to 125 pounds and becoming the first three division champion in UFC history. Nunes announced her intention to leave retirement and fight current UFC women’s bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison back in April of 2025.
Women's flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko wants to fix some nagging injuries, but has plenty of options for what's next.
Consuelos shouted out Shevchenko this morning, who still holds the 125-pound flyweight championship title after her UFC 322 win over the weekend. Viewers were reminded of Shevchenko’s Nov. 7 appearance on Live with a clip in which she showed Consuelos some moves in the ring.
Valentina Shevchenko and Weili Zhang met in one of the biggest women's fights in MMA history at UFC 322. Headlined by another massive title fight featuring Jack Della Maddalena and Islam Makhachev, UFC 322's co-main event saw Zhang move up from the strawweight division to challenge Shevchenko for the women's flyweight belt.
Islam Makhachev became a two-division champion and utilized a dominant grappling game to take the welterweight title in the main event from Jack Della Maddalena. Wrestling was the name of the game in the co-headliner, too, as Valentina Shevchenko defended her women's flyweight title against former two-time strawweight queen Weili Zhang.
