Sunday was a day of firsts for NASCAR in Mexico City. The inaugural Viva Mexico 250 was held at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, marking the first Cup Series race ever held in Mexico. It also marked the first time NASCAR raced internationally in a points-paying event since 1958.

It is van Gisbergen's second Cup Series win after claiming the inaugural Chicago Street Race in 2023. Per NASCAR Insights, he is the first driver since Marvin Porter in 1960 to win his first two races in inaugural races at a track. His 16.567-second margin of victory is the largest in the Cup Series since Kurt Busch at Texas in 2009.
