Usually when creating a design I use a strong wax coated string called artificial sinew. When tied tightly it creates a resist, so the lines under the ties will stay white during the dyeing process. With this piece I only used rubber bands and some tidy accordion folds, then ice dyed it on an incline to take advantage of that trippy melty effect. What do you think? In this example only the very center was tied tightly creating lines, and the surrounding area tied more loosely to allow the dye to flow. The flowery design is created entirely by the magic of pleats and ice dyeing on an incline. These are my favorite types of designs, they really showcase the flow!
