New official figures from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) show that between January and November 2025, the number of asylum claims submitted in Canada was about 33 % lower than the same period in 2024, a notable shift in migration patterns following enhanced scrutiny of temporary resident visa (TRV) applications and strengthened border screening work.
