“The Glow Worm” originated in 1902 in a German operetta called Lysistrata by Paul Lincke. It was translated into english around 1905 by Lila Cayley Robinson. Then, Johnny Mercer changed the melody and greatly revised the lyrics and it became the 1952 Mills Brothers hit.
